Apple’s Product Release Cycle Shifting Away from Tradition

Apple has long followed a predictable schedule for its product releases, with events in the spring, summer, and fall. However, according to Mark Gurman’s latest report, the tech giant is now shifting away from this established cycle.

Gurman suggests that Apple may “abandon the mad scramble to get OS features ready for September” and instead adopt a “staggered” approach, potentially even moving the iPhone launch to a different month. This shift in strategy is at least partially driven by the delayed rollout of the Apple Intelligence feature, which is expected to arrive in October, more than a month after the launch of the iPhone 16.

The report also implies that Apple may be more focused on making a “bigger splash” with new features, rather than updating products to fit a specific timeline. This could mean that Apple may hold back certain features or provide a clearer roadmap for when they will be available, rather than rushing to meet the traditional release schedule. While the impact on events like WWDC is not yet clear, it seems that Apple is willing to shake up its well-established product launch strategy to better align with its development timeline and priorities.
