The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Sphere Entertainment Co. have announced a partnership to bring the world’s second Sphere venue to Abu Dhabi. This next-generation entertainment venue aims to become a landmark addition to the city, elevating the entertainment offerings for residents and visitors.
Sphere Abu Dhabi will seamlessly integrate advanced technology with captivating storytelling, creating unforgettable experiences. This partnership aligns with Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Strategy 2030, further establishing the city as a vibrant hub for culture and innovation. By embracing cutting-edge entertainment like Sphere, the UAE’s capital is not only elevating its global profile but also setting new standards in immersive experiences and cultural offerings.
Under the terms of the partnership, DCT Abu Dhabi will pay a franchise initiation fee to Sphere Entertainment for the right to build the venue, utilizing its proprietary designs, technology, and intellectual property. DCT Abu Dhabi will fund the construction, with Sphere Entertainment’s team of experts providing services for the development, construction, and pre-opening of the venue. Following the venue’s opening, Sphere Entertainment plans to maintain ongoing arrangements with DCT Abu Dhabi, including annual fees for creative and artistic content, operational services, and commercial and strategic advisory support.
