FCC mandates information for broadband plans

The FCC has implemented new rules requiring internet service providers (ISPs) to display “nutrition label-style” disclosures for their broadband plans. These labels must include details on monthly prices, introductory rates, download/upload speeds, data limits, and additional fees. The labels aim to increase transparency and allow consumers to easily compare plans. The largest ISPs must comply starting April 10, 2023, while smaller providers have until October 10, 2024. The FCC developed these labels in response to the bipartisan infrastructure law, with the goal of empowering consumers and fostering greater competition in the broadband market.
