Government denies cloud seeding before Dubai floods

The United Arab Emirates experienced unprecedented heavy rainfall, leading to severe flooding in Dubai and other areas. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM), responsible for cloud seeding operations, denied reports that it conducted weather modification techniques before the storms, stating that it did not target any clouds during the extreme weather event. The UAE’s infrastructure and drainage systems struggled to cope with the unprecedented downpours, resulting in flooded roads, airports, and halted operations. The country has seen a rise in rainfall in recent years, and precipitation is expected to increase further due to climate change. The UAE government issued warnings and urged residents to stay safe during the unstable weather conditions.
