Kazakhstan Showcases Event Tourism Potential at Beijing Exhibitions
In recent years, Kazakhstan has witnessed a surge in event tourism, a trend highlighted by the nation’s tour operators during the China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market (COTTM) and the Astana-Beijing 2024 Roadshow. These tourism exhibitions, held in Beijing, showcased Kazakhstan’s growing prominence as a destination for event-based travel.
According to Meiramgul Balgozhina, the general director of Empire Travel Qazaqstan, event tourism has been a notable trend in inbound tourism during Kazakhstan’s Tourism Year in China. This sector focuses on organizing tours around major events like conferences, exhibitions, and sports competitions in the country. Such events are drawing considerable interest from international tourists, particularly from China, further solidifying Kazakhstan’s appeal as a destination for event-based travel experiences.
The Astana-Beijing Roadshow featured active participation from Kazakhstan’s tour operators, travel agencies, and hotels, providing a platform for discussions on potential partnerships and collaboration opportunities between Kazakh and Chinese businesses. As a result, seven cooperation agreements were successfully signed between Kazakh and Chinese tourism businesses, enhancing cross-border travel and fostering stronger ties between the two nations in the realm of tourism.
Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana, has hosted a series of high-profile events this year, further boosting its status as a key player in international tourism. These events, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, the fifth World Nomad Games, the Astana Think Tank Forum, and the 27th Asian Table Tennis Championships, have drawn international attention and reinforced Astana’s growing reputation as a destination for major global gatherings.
