Another storm is making its way across British Columbia’s coastal regions. Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for northern sections of Metro Vancouver, including West Vancouver, Howe Sound, North Vancouver, Coquitlam, and Pitt Meadows, along with eastern Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii. The expected rainfall amounts range from 50 mm to 90 mm, and there is an increased risk of washouts, rockfalls, and landslides.
In addition, wind warnings are in place for many regions, including the Central Coast, East Vancouver Island, Greater Victoria, Metro Vancouver, North Vancouver Island, Southern Gulf Islands, the Sunshine Coast, and western Vancouver Island. Blustery southeasterly winds of 70 km/h with gusts between 90 to 100 km/h are expected to develop on Tuesday evening and ease on Wednesday morning. These high winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches.
BC Ferries has already cancelled some sailings ahead of the expected storm, and travelers are advised to check the BC Ferries website before heading to the terminal. Environment Canada is urging residents to be prepared for the potential impacts of the storm, including the possibility of power outages and disruptions to transportation.
