Over 80 Tri-State veterans and their guardians participated in the fourth and final Honor Flight of 2024, traveling to Washington D.C. to visit their memorials. The veterans, who served during the Korean War and Vietnam War, had the opportunity to share their unique stories and experiences.

The day-long journey included visits to iconic memorials, such as the Iwo Jima Memorial, where the veterans paid their respects and reflected on their sacrifices. Family members joined many of the veterans, allowing them to share in the emotional experiences. As one veteran’s son expressed, “He didn’t get the welcome he deserved when he came home from Vietnam, and hopefully this will help heal some wounds.”

The Tri-State Honor Flight organizers emphasized the significance of these trips, stating, “It’s very touching for them. We start here with Iwo Jima Memorial. We move on to different memorials throughout the day. Marines especially for this.. each one gets their own memorial. They embellish on each memorial stop throughout the day.” The veterans were welcomed back home at CVG on Wednesday night, and the next Honor Flight is scheduled for April 8, 2025.
